Chanute, Kan. - UA Cossatot men's soccer endured a tough Saturday afternoon, losing 5-1 to No. 4 Neosho County Community at the Chanute Sports Complex.
The Colts (2-6) went ahead early but could not hold on, as the Panthers (9-0-1) scored an onslaught of goals to come out on top.
Cossatot struck first in the 11th minute, as a goalmouth scramble on a corner kick gave sophomore defender Kobe Sutherland the opportunity to score his first collegiate goal.
Neosho struck back later in the half, equalizing in the 29th minute. This was followed by the go-ahead goal just under four minutes later.
With just over a minute left, NCCC themselves scored on a scramble in front of goal, putting themselves up 3-1 at halftime.
The Panthers outshot the Colts 10-to-six in the first half, with shots on goal being 7-2.
Neosho scored on a penalty kick in the 51st minute, making their lead 4-1. NCCC clinched victory in the 80th minute, adding their fifth goal.
The Panthers won the shots battle 21-to-eight, with 12 of their shots being on goal compared to Cossatot's two. Corner kicks were noticeably lopsided, 13-1 in Neosho's favor.
The Colts will head across Missouri, as they're set to play St. Charles Community College tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Cottleville, Missouri.
