St. Charles, Mo. - UA Cossatot men's soccer wrapped up their weekend road trip by losing 3-2 to St. Charles Community College, as a late comeback wasn't enough at the St. Charles Community College Soccer Field.
The Colts (2-7) were unable to recover from a disappointing 3-0 first half deficit, as the Cougars (8-7-1) held on for a 3-2 victory.
The first half was domination for SCCC, with 10th, 24th and 39th minute goals giving them a 3-0 halftime lead. The Cougars were all over the Colts, with nine shots and five shots on goal, compared to just one off-target shot for UAC.
The second half was a more evenly matched affair, with chances for both sides. In the 70th minute, Gustavo Quiroz scored a goal to get the Colts on the board.
In the 88th minute, Luis Campos scored a second goal, putting a result up for grabs with two minutes to go. Unfortunately for UAC, their attempts could not get past the Cougars goalkeeper, and Cossatot lost 3-2.
Despite the loss, the Colts certainly improved from one half to the next. In the second half, they led in shots nine-to-six and shots on goal six-to-four, a marked improvement from the first half.
Overall, St. Charles had six of their 15 shots get on goal, while six of Cossatot's nine shots reached net.
Tate Fuentes made six saves in net.
Cossatot plays again in nine days, traveling to play Northeast Texas C.C. on Oct. 14. for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
