The Colts (9-15, 3-9 Region 2) played the Nighthawks (10-12, 3-9 Region 2) closely in the first half, but a emphatic second half where they outscored National Park 52-31 gave Cossatot their third conference win as Region 2 teams joust in the standings ahead of the close of the regular season.
The first half was tightly-contested for the most part, but UAC pulled away at the end for a 46-38 halftime lead. RJ Patton was extremely active and had 11 first-half points and three assists, while sharp-shooting Amory Arie 10.
The Colts came storming out of the gate, forcing NPC into a second timeout in quick succession as the Colts led 62-49 with 13:39 to go.
This didn't help the NPC cause, as they eventually found themselves down 23 with 5:53 to go as a Dylan Glover three-pointer sent the Bank of Lockesburg Gymnasium into complete pandemonium.
Cossatot held on to win 99-68, moving out of the dreaded last-place spot and back into the fold for the Region 2 Tournament in Harrison later on in February.
Clifton Jones led the Colts with a career-high 18 points, while Patton had 16. Landon Allen had 10 rebounds, while Dylan Glover had six assists.
The Colts now hit the road again, with a game at 5:30 p.m. Away to SAU Tech up next.
