The Colts (7-6) came from behind and held on in the final minutes over the Bulldogs (6-3) to move back to a winning record once again.
UAC fell down by a few possessions to start the game but clawed their way back into it, tying the game with seven and a half minutes to go. By the end of the half Cossatot was in front 30-27. Bryce Goodwin Jr. let the Colts with seven first-half points.
The second half was a closely-fought battle for the most part, but a big three-pointer from freshman guard Amory Arie with 5:24 put the Colts up 61-52 and forced the Bulldogs into taking a timeout.
Not to be deterred, SC made a run of their own and cut the lead to 64-63 with 1:16 left. Arie then responded with another huge three with 54.8 to put the Colts up by four. While Shorter scored with 42 seconds to go to cut it to 67-65, a layup by RJ Patton gave Cossatot back their multi-possession lead with 24 seconds to go.
The Bulldogs wouldn't go down without a fight, scoring their own layup with 15.9 to go and rebounding the first free throw of UAC's one-and-one. While they missed offensively, they repeated the same feat of rebounding the missed Colts free throw and had one last chance with seven seconds left. However Shorter missed, putting the Colts back above .500.
Goodwin led UAC with 10 points.
The Colts have their last 2025 home game on Saturday, as they are set to take on South Arkansas College at home. Tip-off in Lockesburg from the Bank of Lockesburg Gymnasium is set for 3 p.m.
